Job Description

The Consultant Neurosurgeon is responsible for providing expert surgical and medical care to patients with neurological conditions affecting the brain, spine, and peripheral nerves. This role involves diagnosing patients, recommending appropriate surgical or non-surgical interventions, and performing complex neurosurgical procedures. The Consultant Neurosurgeon also plays a critical role in postoperative care, rehabilitation, and follow-up management. In addition to clinical duties, they are involved in teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives within their department.Diagnosis and Evaluation: Assess patients with neurological symptoms or conditions, including trauma, tumors, vascular disorders, degenerative diseases, and congenital abnormalities. Perform diagnostic evaluations using imaging techniques such as MRI, CT scans, and angiography, and other neurological assessments. Work closely with neurologists, radiologists, and other specialists to determine the best course of treatment for each patient. Surgical Planning and Preparation: Develop comprehensive treatment plans that may involve surgical intervention, taking into account patient history, current health status, and imaging results. Discuss treatment options, risks, and benefits with patients and their families, ensuring informed consent is obtained before surgery. Coordinate preoperative care with anesthesiologists and surgical teams to ensure patient safety and readiness for surgery.
