Job Description
The Consultant in Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (MICS) is responsible for performing advanced cardiac surgeries using minimally invasive techniques to treat cardiovascular diseases. The role involves diagnosing heart conditions, recommending surgical interventions, and leading minimally invasive procedures such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repairs or replacements, and atrial fibrillation surgery. The consultant is also responsible for postoperative care and recovery management, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. In addition to clinical duties, the Consultant MICS participates in research, teaching, and quality improvement initiatives.Patient Diagnosis and Evaluation: Assess patients with cardiovascular conditions such as coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, and arrhythmias. Conduct detailed clinical evaluations, including reviewing medical histories, imaging studies (e.g., echocardiograms, angiograms, CT scans), and diagnostic tests (e.g., ECG, stress tests). Collaborate with cardiologists and other specialists to determine the most appropriate treatment, including the potential for minimally invasive surgery. Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgical Procedures: Perform a wide range of minimally invasive cardiac surgeries, including but not limited to: Minimally invasive coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) Minimally invasive mitral or aortic valve repair/replacement Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI/TAVR) Atrial septal defect (ASD) and patent foramen ovale (PFO) closures Maze procedure for atrial fibrillation
