Job Description
The Medical Oncologist is a specialized physician responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with cancer using systemic therapies such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and hormonal therapy. This role includes developing individualized treatment plans, administering therapies, monitoring patient progress, managing side effects, and providing supportive care. The Medical Oncologist collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive cancer care and engages in research, education, and community outreach.Patient Evaluation and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive medical assessments for patients presenting with cancer symptoms or at high risk for cancer. Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., imaging studies, laboratory tests, and biopsies) to establish and confirm cancer diagnoses. Collaborate with pathologists and other specialists to review findings and develop a diagnosis. Treatment Planning and Administration: Develop personalized treatment plans based on the specific type and stage of cancer, as well as the patient’s overall health and preferences. Administer and manage systemic therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and hormonal therapy. Monitor patients for treatment efficacy and adverse effects, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
